The Green School Advocacy Committee of the U.S. Green Building Council Central Texas - Balcones Chapter is currently accepting applications for its second annual Green School Awards.
The purpose of the award is to recognize sustainable design that promotes public awareness with the idea that every school can present the opportunity for each student to develop a love for learning through energy efficient buildings, higher test scores and low absenteeism.
Awards will be given in two categories: New Construction and Renovations/Additions. The winners will be notified directly, with an announcement to follow on the Chapter website. An awards ceremony will take place at the 2010 Green School Symposium, to be held at AMD Austin Lone Star Campus on Friday, October 1st.
The design teams for the two award winning projects will be asked to give a twenty-minute presentation of their projects at the Green School Symposium, immediately following the Awards Ceremony.
