2010 Green School Symposium

The USGBC Central Texas – Balcones Chapter, in partnership with AIA Austin's Committee on the Environment (AIA COTE), are proud to present the Third Annual Green School Symposium.

20% of America goes to school every day.  Too many of these students and teachers attend schools that are inefficient and miss opportunities to reduce operational costs, foster learning, and protect student health.  Green Schools cost less to operate, freeing up resources to truly improve students' education.  Across the United States, school districts, large and small are realizing the benefits of green schools.  (Source: www.usgbc.org)

Speaker and panel discussions will cover a broad range of topics - to include green school rating programs, green building codes, indoor air quality, green housekeeping, utility benchmarking, green curriculum development, grant writing, along with legislative updates and available state incentives.

Break out tracks are geared towards Architects, Engineers, and Contractors; School Administrators and Educators; and Facilities Managers. For a full schedule click here

The 2010 Green School Awards will be presented over the lunch hour, with a presentation by the two award winning designs.

The event will take place at the LEED Gold rated Lone Star campus of AMD Austin: Advanced Micro Devices, 7171 Southwest Pkwy, Austin, TX 78735 Tel: 512-602-1000 [Map to AMD Lone Star Campus]

Attendees will have the opportunity to meet many of the event's speakers and tour the facility at a reception immediately following the Symposium.
