On-Site Renewable Energy

LEED 2.2 Requirements:

Use the building annual energy cost calculated in EA Credit 1 or use the Department of Energy (DOE) Commercial Buildings Energy Consumption Survey (CBECS) database to determine the estimated electricity use. (Table of use for different building types is provided in the Reference Guide.)

% Renewable Energy      Points
2.5%                             1
7.5%      2
12.5% 3

Submittals (DESIGN):

- Provide a narrative that describes the renewable system(s), and explain the calculation method used to estimate the annual energy generated. Indicate any factors influencing performance (such as DC-to-AC derate factor, tilt, orientation, and adjacent shading structures for photovoltaic   arrays).
- Provide the on-site renewable energy source(s) used, the backup energy for each source (i.e., the fuel that is used when the renewable energy source is unavailable), the annual energy generated from each source, rated capacity, and renewable energy cost.

In addition, please provide the following project data and calculation information based on the appropriate compliance path:
Option 1 - Computer Simulation to Document Improved Building Energy Performance
- Provide the Total Annual Proposed Design Site Energy Usage from EA credit 1 table 1.8.2 (b).
- Provide the Total Annual Proposed Design Site Energy Cost from EA credit 1 table 1.8.2 (b).

Option 2 - Commercial Buildings Energy Consumption Survey to Determine Average Energy Consumption
- Indicate the building type that most closely represents the project.
- Indicate the Building Area (square feet).
- Provide CBECS Data requested on the Template. AND (For Projects With Special Circumstances)
- Provide an optional narrative to describe any additional comments or notes regarding special circumstances or considerations regarding the project's credit approach.
