Water Efficient Landscaping: Reduce by 50%
LEED 2.2 Requirements:
Reduce potable water consumption for irrigation by 50% from a calculated mid-summer baseline case. Reductions shall be attributed to any combination of the following items: " Plant species factor " Irrigation efficiency " Use of captured rainwater " Use of recycled wastewater " Use of water treated and conveyed by a public agency specifically for non-potable uses
Option 1:
The landscaping and irrigation systems have been designed to reduce irrigation water consumption from a calculated baseline case (1 point). Option 2: The irrigation water used on site is supplied by a non-potable source (1 point).
Option 3:
The landscaping and irrigation systems have been designed to reduce irrigation water consumption from a calculated baseline case, AND the irrigation water used on site is supplied by a non-potable source (up to 2 points). See WEc1.2 below. Option 4: The landscaping installed does not require permanent irrigation systems. Temporary irrigation systems used for plant establishment will be removed within one year of installation. (2 points). See WEc1.2 below.
Submittals (DESIGN):
- Provide the project landscape plan(s).
- Provide a narrative describing the landscaping and irrigation design strategies employed by the project; description of the water use calculation methodology used to determine savings; and for projects using non-potable water, specific information regarding source and available quantity of non-potable supplies. In addition, please provide the following project data and calculation information based on the appropriate compliance path:
Option 1
- Landscaping and Irrigation Systems Design
- Provide the project's calculated baseline irrigation water consumption (Total Water Applied (TWA) (gal)). This data an be obtained using Equation 5 (p. 121 of LEED Reference Manual).
- Provide the project's calculated design case irrigation water consumption (Total Water Applied (TWA) (gal)). This data can be obtained by using Equation 5.
Option 2
- Non-Potable Irrigation Water Source
- Provide the project's calculated baseline irrigation water consumption (Total Water Applied (TWA) (gal)). This data an be obtained using Equation 5 (p. 121 of LEED Reference Manual).
- Provide the total non-potable water supply (gal) available for irrigation purposes.
- Provide the non-potable water source. AND (For Projects With Special Circumstances
- Any Compliance Path)
- Provide an optional narrative to describe any additional comments or notes regarding special circumstances or considerations regarding the project's credit approach.
